My Favorite Superbowl Snack - Pepperoni Pinwheels

There is alot of excitement at our house surrounding this years Superbowl.  My Hubs is a huge Rams fan, as he likes to say since Eric Dickerson.  In the spirit of me trying to get into the Superbowl, I thought that I would share my favorite football snack, it reminds of chilly Saturday mornings at Ohio State getting ready for game day.  This is actually a play on the pepperoni bread that would always show up on those days.  This is sort of a family favorite of ours.

What makes it perfect is that this can be made ahead, making it easy whether you are hosting a party or need to bring something to a party that you are attending.

Let's Get Started.

Here is what you need:

1 loaf of frozen bread dough
flour for dusting counter
2 TBSP of olive oil
Sliced Pepperoni
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Allow the bread to rise (about 1 1/2 to 2 hours).  Dust working space with flour and roll out the dough, using your hand to stretch it out.

Cover dough with olive oil.  Layer with pepperoni (you can add some browned Italian sausage if you like) and then cover the pepperoni with cheese.

Starting at the far end of the long side, roll the dough up.  Next (using a cutting board) cut the dough into slices, lying them flat on a cookie sheet.

Bake for around 15-17 at 350 until browned.

These stand on their own, but if you would like a dipping sauce, a simply jar tomato sauce would pair just great.

Enjoy!
